Because trade associations often involve meetings of, and collaborations among, competitors, their activities have historically attracted special scrutiny under the competition laws and have frequently resulted in enforcement actions. We have substantial experience in assisting trade associations in developing codes of conduct and compliance programs so as to conduct their operations in order to achieve their legitimate objectives without offending Canadian and English competition laws. We also provide general counselling in relation to the implications under the competition laws of activities, whether planned or historical. Further, where required, we provide representation before the Canadian and English competition authorities, the competition tribunals and courts.
