Gerry is recognized as a leading litigator whose dispute resolution practice encompasses all aspects of civil, administrative and commercial litigation, with an emphasis on professional negligence, pensions, cross-border issues, franchise, banking, insurance, real estate, product liability and employment matters. He has appeared in all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada and before administrative boards and tribunals. With a particular interest in ADR, Gerry is often retained to resolve complex, multi-party disputes. He is a past member of the Executive Committee of the New York-based CPR Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution, which promotes innovation and excellence in public and private conflict management. Gerry has acted as counsel in both domestic and international commercial arbitrations and mediations and has employed a variety of ADR protocols to secure extremely favourable results. Gerry has acted for numerous Fortune 500 companies, including DuPont, Honeywell, Goodrich Aerospace, Northrup Grumman, PwC, Intact (formerly ING Canada Inc.), Aviva Canada, Swiss Re and Chubb Insurance Company of Canada.
Gerry taught advanced civil procedure and negotiation skills at one of Canada’s leading law schools. He lectures on a wide variety of topics ranging from commercial litigation and ADR issues to managing exposure in regulatory investigations.
Gerry has held numerous senior roles at Fasken Martineau including, most recently, acting as Chair of the Litigation department in Ontario and former Head of the ADR Group.
