Mr. Gilbert is the co-chair of the Firm's Montreal Commercial Litigation Group and he is widely recognised for his advocacy skills, particularly in the areas of franchise law and real estate.
A senior partner in the Commercial Litigation practice group, he is among Canada’s most involved and celebrated franchise lawyers. He is the author of the latest reference work on Quebec franchise law, and has successfully handled some of the country’s most important franchise cases, including the Dunkin’ Brands case and the Freightliner case. Co-chair of the last two Recent Developments in Franchise Law conferences, he is also a regular speaker on various franchise law forums. Over the years, he has earned multiple distinctions for the high quality of his professional work in the franchise industry, including '' Top 40 Under 40 '' (Lexpert, November 2015), "future star" 2013 (Benchmark Canada), “professional of the year” (Jeune chambre de commerce de Montréal), and the “Prix relève d’affaire” (Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec and the Quebec government). He taught law of obligations and civil liability at the École du Barreau de Montréal. Finally, Mr. Gilbert currently teaches Franchise Law in Québec (Droit de la franchise au Québec) at the graduate level at the Université de Montréal.
