Montréal (Canada) – Fasken Martineau is pleased to announce that Gilda Villaran has been awarded the title of Advocatus Emeritus. For ten years, the Barreau du Québec has presented this designation, recognizing the outstanding careers, impressive professional contributions, and social commitment of its recipients.
Of the 26,500 members of the Barreau du Québec, only 28 have been selected to receive the Ad.E. designation this year. At the annual ceremony, which will be held on November 21 in Montréal, Gilda will receive her title and add the initials Ad.E., the abbreviation for the Latin term Advocatus Emeritus, after her name.
“We are pleased that Gilda has been recognized with this designation,” Firm Managing Partner Peter Feldberg commented. “It is a proper reflection of her work and achievements.” Those sentiments were reiterated by Éric Bédard, Managing Partner of the Québec Region, “Gilda embodies all the qualities this prestigious designation recognizes. She is an exceptional role model and incredibly accomplished practitioner.”
In her corporate immigration
practice, Gilda has continued to strengthen the image and influence of the legal profession. A gifted practitioner, Gilda assists clients with the international relocation of executives and highly qualified personnel, and also advises on NAFTA and regulatory-based exemptions. Gilda graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Peru, earning the highest grades in her class. She was also awarded the Fulbright Scholarship and attended Yale Law School, completing both her LL.M. and J.S.D. there.
